pRE-COOL
If the purpose of coolers is to keep the cool inside, a pre-chilled product will perform even longer. Put your cooler in the fridge or place ice cubes in it before you set off. If neither option is possible, leave your cooler in the coolest part of the house the night before.
ICE CUBES OR ICE BLOCKS?
Small ice cubes are easier to insert, especially between different shaped bottles. But ice blocks melt much more slowly. If you are traveling for a long trip, taking large ice cubes will provide longer lasting coldness. If you are only taking drinks on a short trip, cubes will fit more easily between bottles. Of course, you can use both options together.
USE FROZEN FOOD AS ICE
Don't defrost your food - you can use your frozen vegetables, soup or meat as space-saving blocks of ice. You can do the same with ice-filled water bottles, you will need water anyway, so you will have cold water and the inside of your cooler will stay cold.
DRY ICE
Dry ice is much, much colder than normal ice and when it melts it turns into vapor, not liquid. But you should never handle it with bare hands, you should never touch it to your skin, you should always wear gloves.
