The Apex 500A 75V SmartShunt Coulomb Meter is a current and energy meter that is commonly used in battery systems, solar energy systems, caravans, boats and DC power systems.
The main task of the device is to accurately measure and display the battery charge rate (SoC - State of Charge), current consumed and received (amperes), voltage (volts) and capacity used (ampere-hour, watt-hour).
The SmartShunt Coulomb Meter works on the principle of a "smart shunt resistor". In this system, the device is connected in series with the battery and calculates the current flowing through it by measuring the very small voltage difference it creates as the current flows through it.
Current Measurement (A):
Continuously measures the current entering and leaving the battery (e.g. -10A consumption, +5A charging).
Voltage Measurement (V):
Monitors the battery voltage (e.g. 12.8V).
Capacity / Energy Tracking (Ah / Wh):
Shows the remaining capacity of the battery as a percentage by calculating how much energy has been withdrawn or added.
State of Charge (SOC):
Shows how full the battery is (e.g. 78%).
Bluetooth Connectivity (BLE):
The device is usually connected via Bluetooth to the app on the phone.
Instant current, voltage, power, consumption graphs and historical data can be monitored in the mobile app.
CAN or RS485 Communication:
It can exchange data with other devices in industrial systems (e.g. inverter, solar controller).
